Here is my comment for Rachel’s Post 4 :
I think this video demonstrates why people overestimate the short term effects of technology and underestimate the long term effects of it. It is true that AI can complete tedious work for us and we can focus on more difficult tasks. However, many people can use this aspect of AI in an unintentional way and may eventually lead to a habit that can cause very negative impacts in the future. For example, learners use the feedback from ChatGPT to make adjustments on their work without evaluating ChatGPT’s response. The video also mentions another good idea that instructors want to change how we ask the questions and how learners should learn. Perhaps, this is something our team could try for the interactive learning plan. Overall, the video first gives a more subjective view of AI for education following up with real-life examples and personal experience. We want learners to be carefully exposed to different views. Another lesson we can learn from this video is that the examples should be more illustrative and graphical if possible. Even though the speaker has shown meaningful feedback about the current use of AI for education, very few illustrative examples are given in the video. Most of the time, he verbally demonstrates the examples.
